The Gospel: The Good News is...
So if we're unable to meet God's perfect standard, what do we do? Well, under the circumstances, there's nothing we can do. But God can.
The good news is, the God who created us loves us even in our imperfection, and has provided a plan that meets us right where we are, and provides a perfect solution to our problem. That solution is Jesus Christ.
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 6:23
Because he was both fully man and fully God, Jesus Christ was able to live a sinless life which perfectly fulfilled the demands of God's law, and His death became the perfect sacrifice for the sins of mankind. Just as we owe a debt we can't possibly pay, Jesus paid a debt He didn't owe. God is able to satisfy the demands of His Holy law, while demonstrating His perfect love for us.
