The
Gospel: Receiving
the Gift...
If
you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in
your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will
be saved. For with the heart one believes unto
righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto
salvation.
Romans 10:9-10
God knows we're unable to measure up -- that's why He paid
the ultimate price for our sins Himself in the person of
Jesus Christ. We don't get to Heaven by being "good
enough." Nobody except Christ Himself has ever measured up
to God's standard. That's why Christ's death was the
perfect sacrifice: only an infinite and perfect God could
pay the price. Our part is to admit our helplessness and
ask God to forgive us through Jesus.
For
whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be
saved.
Romans 10:13
God isn't listening for any specific words -- He's waiting
to hear what's in your heart. You can pray the prayer any
way you want, right where you are.
God,
I confess that I'm a sinner. I can't make up for those sins
myself. I need a Savior. I believe that Jesus died for me,
to pay the penalty for my sins. I ask you, Jesus, to
forgive my sins, cleanse my heart, and change me into the
person you want me to be. Thank you for saving me.
Amen.
If you sincerely prayed that prayer, then congratulations
-- you're saved!
