The
Gospel: Now
what?
You've prayed
the prayer. But you don't "feel" any different. That's
okay. Your salvation isn't dependent on your feelings, but
on God's promises as revealed in the Bible. You're probably
wondering how you're ever going to be able to "clean up
your act" and live the Christian life. More good news: you
don't have to!
In
Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth,
the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having
believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of
promise.
Ephesians 1:13
When you ask Jesus for forgiveness, God sends his Holy
Spirit to live inside you. He is your guarantee that once
you're saved, you can never lose it.
For
it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His
good pleasure.
Philippians 2:13
The Spirit will enable you to understand and obey God's
plan for your life as revealed in the Bible. Your part is
to listen to the Spirit's leading and allow God to change
you into the person He wants you to be. This is not an
instant lesson -- it takes most people the rest of their
lives to really learn it. But God will never leave you, and
through His Spirit will accomplish His purpose for you no
matter how long it takes.
He
who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion
until the day of Christ Jesus.
Phillippians 1:6
